The Daisy Campaign
Drug Awareness in Irish Sociable Youth (D.A.I.S.Y.) is an innovative project completed by young people supported by a working partnership of the Snug Counselling Sevice and Bradóg Regional Youth Service.
It started in April 2006 with a group of about 15 participants. We did some work for the first couple of weeks on Drug Awareness. After the young people had an understanding of the different types of drugs and their effects we then went on to do media studies. This involved learning about Photography and Video work.

On one of the sessions the group took a walk around the local area and took some pictures. What they wanted to capture some images which portrayed “drugs” to them. They can be seen in the gallery on this website.
The whole idea was to get the young people to think of a way to get a message to their peers about drugs through various types of media.
In the short films that they made “talking heads” they wanted to get the message across: “never say never”. Even though young people say they will never take drugs, situations arise they may be exposed to drugs and might change their minds.
Over the last year the seven remaining young people worked in a variety of media formats, creating different types materials to promote drug awareness and their risks among their peers and in their local community.
The results of their work has led to a very impressive selection of short video stories, photographic images, pamphlets, wrist bands and online information all accessible through this website.
